Frequently asked questions
What material are CEA taps made of?
AISI 316L stainless steel, a steel with a low carbon content. The manufacturer stresses that the surface has no chrome plating or any galvanic process, and describes stainless steel as a material that is 100% recyclable, durable and particularly hygienic.
Which finishes can be ordered?
CEA works with two standard finishes, satin (S) and polished (L). It also offers a range of special finishes to order: Black Diamond, Black Ivory, Bronze, Copper and Light Gold.
Are the special finishes purely decorative or do they add something more?
According to the manufacturer they add performance. The special finishes are obtained with a thick deposition of zirconium and graphite powder mixes, applied by evaporation in vacuum chambers (plasma) until a thin film forms. CEA states that the result is scratch-resistant and that it makes the steel even more resistant to cleaning products and to salt air.
Can the bronze or copper finish change tone over time?
Yes, and the manufacturer considers it normal. CEA warns that variations in colour and shade should not be regarded as a manufacturing defect, because they are a natural effect of oxygenation, especially in the bronze and copper finishes.
We live in a hard water area. Is there a finish that suffers less from limescale?
On that point CEA highlights the Black Diamond (KD) finish: it describes its surface as protected against limescale deposits, thanks to a self-lubricating property that, according to the manufacturer, keeps the product clean for longer.
What certifications does the brand hold?
At company level, CEA declares ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. At product level it publishes a list of approvals issued by bodies in various countries, among them WRAS, DVGW, SVGW, Watermark, WELS, Belgaqua, CSA, UL, Watersense, EAC, SVES, the CB Test Certificate and the Chinese water efficiency label.
